We took a day trip to the calcium cliffs of Pamukkale (which means “Cotton Castle”). Ancient Greeks came to Pamukkale to enjoy the hot springs and use it as a spa. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and is one of the most surreal places we visited on our trip.

Even though it was around 95 degrees, we still went out to see the ancient city of Ephesus. The Celcus Library is one of the most ornate ancient structures we saw. Leaving Bergama, we arrive in the city of Selcuk, the larger city where tourists stay when they want to visit nearby Ephesus. We visit the huge weekend market and the Basilica of St. John which was just across the street from our hotel.
