On this day three years ago, I posted my first video to this blog. Since then, many things have changed, both in my life and in the world of online video. Sometimes I miss those early days of videoblogging, but I am also very excited about what is yet to come. Thank you for supporting me these past few years!

Happy Birthday to the Vlog from Germany.
Wow.. just WOW. This video strikes a chord with me today, mostly because I have been thinking lately about how much videoblogging has changed. I miss those early days of sharing our lives for the simple purpose of connecting with others. Seems like today, it’s all about shows and making money, which isn’t a bad thing… it’s just not the same. My favorite videoblogs are still the old fashioned ones.I guess that’s life though, right?
I am so glad that I had a part in the early days.
Don’t stop sharing though! Thanks for making this. It makes me feel all nostalgic!
Always the inspiration. Thank you.
Great video! I remember most of those from the old days!
Josh, you just made my day. It’s been so long since I’ve heard that title music to your videos, and I got way excited. Thanks for sharing your life with us. You were partially responsible for inspiring me to start vlogging, so thanks.
I remember a lot of these videos. Watching this made me want to start vlogging again… even more than I already do. Later.
Happy Anniv!
Your videos continue to be an amazing part of my day. Thanks for the recap, and for whatever comes next.
I’ll be watching …
All the best.

Neato josh, I liked that one.
Fantastic recap! It’s so true, videoblogging is such a personal way to share your life with the world, and not everyone has the knowledge or courage to do that. Thank you for having both, and more.
I can’t wait until you vlog your kid’s first steps. (I assume you will have a kid or two, right?)
Thanks for being an inspiration!
Hey Josh.
Not everyone stops to reflect on how life has changed for them over time. This has been an extraordinary period in your life, and your openness and willingness to share your enthusiasms, curiosities, vulnerabilities and joys has affected a great many of us.
Even if some day you pull down the vlog, you’ll have these remarkable videos to uncover at some later point in life. Or to share with your children (should you have any).
Those of us who consider ourselves fans would of course love to see more frequent posts here, but we’re also aware that your hunger for creative exploration and emotional connection that drove your early videoblogging finds expression and comfort elsewhere these days.
Stay true, and you’ll guide yourself to where you’re supposed to be.
Found you while looking for reviews of the Canon HV20. I’m totaly blown with the idea of a videoblog. Super! I was smiling all the time while whatching this vid. You can tell so much more with video than just images. Really really fun to whatch and very inspiring to start my own vlog, keep up the good work.
As always nice video. Keep ‘em coming Josh
happy anniversary, josh. it gives me such a range of emotions when i think about what the past 3 years have been in the world of videoblogging. it’s scary, disappointing, exhilirating, frustrating… i guess like all parts of life.
Nicely done Josh.
Now… if we could get the new woman to let up on the leash a bit, so you could do more vlogs.
Yea! Yea! Yea!
One “Yea!” for every year. Let’s both get back into it like back in the day, like before YouTube got huge.
Promise?
You have such a talent for evoking a range of emotions in your vlog posts, whether it is a grain silo collapsing, a month in Germany, or you simply sharing your feelings on camera. Thanks for sticking to it these last three years. I wish I had your energy and stamina for the medium. It’s easy to see that you truly love sharing your life with us, and for that I thank you. You rock, dude!
Happy 3 years 2 u
, and keep the good work ^__^ .
Wow, that was, like, so three years ago! I still remember eating at Russ’ on 28th Street and you explaining this whole vlog thing….and now I’m doing PhD work on Internet video culture. You ruined a perfectly good English major.
Keep finding ways to resist selling out!
(oh, and psst….I think your other creative endeavors are quite remarkable too…and I’m NOT just being courteous)
Its good to see you are still passionate and happy with your vloging. I myself was starting to go through some withdrawl of not seeing something up. I almost started to smoke crack just to make up for no Joeleo vlogs. But still it has been a great time.. and hope to see more.
What a wonderful retrospective!
Congrats!!
What’s the title of music
Josh…
I found you by googling an old Musician Friend, Josh Leo. He was the lead guitarist for Jimmy Buffett for years, and was himself a star of an early Music Video called “Live at the Bay.”
And I found you. I’m going to have to tell Josh “Thanks!!!”
I’m 61 years old, and my brief (soon to be extended) exposure to your site has moved me to take a new direction as I’m Circling the Drain.”
News at 11…..
That would be Live “by” the Bay.
I find myself saying “Thanks” and “Sorry” to Josh, both within 90 seconds…
3 years!!! yeaaaaaahhhhhhhhh
amazing huh?
time flys.
That was a great compilation! It brought back memories for me too because it feels like I experienced some of those things with you.
Nice look back.
Wow, 3 years already???
Hey well i am embarrassed to say that I don’t watch this as much as I should and I never realized how talented you were, this is awesome, keep it up!
