The best part is the fact that she knows to pose in front of the camera when she takes a break!

    aaww…little winnie cooper…

that’s so nice that you don’t even have to get up and move to play with her. what a smart cat that she brings it right to you. but, i think she needs a dog brother or sister.

That’s great. My brother in law used to have a cat that would do that. Tripped me out every time.

Stan is a failure, Claire! My cat does this same thing…or at least used to in the days of her youth before another cat and then babies (human ones) came along. You captured it so well.

This is a sweet video. I never thought of cats wanting to play fetch.

PIerre plays fetch as well. He’s a 5 year old part Siamese somewhat hefty cat. His fetch-toys of preference are the fat green straws found at Starbucks. These crunch, are very easy to carry and bat around. He will stop playing after 4 or 5 rounds. When he knows I am getting ready to leave he finds a straw and brings it to me hoping I will stay and play. Given that he’s an indoor only cat the exercise is good for him. It is fun and delightful.

That is so weird my kids do the same thing, I throw catnip and they chase after it, sometimes they even get confused by mirrors and think that there is another kid there…….who knew kids and cats had so much in commen…

In case anyone doesn’t know me, I am kidding……we did use to give the kids catnip though, it was funny…. ;)

Just when you think you’ve got a unique cat. As Steve points out just above this comment, my cat Ollie drops his similar rattle mice (they have feathers attached to their asses) in the water bowl. I was out of town this week for one night and the neighbor who fed Ollie said she came by one morning to find THREE of them in his water bowl.

I’m not going to let Ollie see your video because I don’t want him to know about the litter box part of the game.

Great video josh. I like the many different angles you shot this from. And your choice in music and story telling as always is great.
I’m not a big big cat fan. However cats that act a bit like dogs. Yeah, those cats are cool. I worked at a veterinary office once and we had a dog-like cat there too. He was awesome though on occasion he would randomly jump on your back.

    hey josh!
i love your vlog and blog, and pics and everything, is so much fun watching you, because it always seems like you’re having a nice time doing all that stuff =)
well, i also got cats and i know that, “putting the mice into the water” game, but i’m glad, that they’ve never put it on my lap. but one of my cats loves to play with his mice, and he’s got the bugging habit to play with them, “catch” them and then scream as loud as he can.. it’s like his call for dinner, and he doesn’t stop until somebody comes, and takes the mouse… this is kind of annoying, because he loves to do it, when everbody is in bed.

    greetings
    Joanna

My cat also does the same thing!

When she starts to do it, I also though that only dogs do that.

When friends come to visit, I show them what she is able to do and they ask how do I teach her that, but the truth is that my cat teach me how to throw it for her!!

I have a video of this fetch in my videoblog: http://quimbayo.blogspot.com/2006/04/vlog-no1-nos-metieron-perro-por-gato.html

Actually it was the first video that I put in my videoblog: http://www.quimbayo.blogspot.com

    Regards.
pd. I love all your cat videos.

My fat cat eats anything and does play fetch (but only until he’s wheezing and ready to eat again).

My white, fluffy cat exudes magnificence and hate in equal parts while somehow managing to smell like happiness and sunshine.

Mine used to do that too, but he used a ponytail holder. I used to have to hide it cause he’d never quit. Thanks for a great memory of a deceased friend.

My cat does this too, and with the same toy mice! Amazing! I thought he was the only one, as I have never heard of cats playing fetch before. Thanks for the heads up on the water bowl, and litter tray, will keep my eyes open for mice in there LOL. I love my clever ginger little man! :)

My cat plays fetch, too! She even responds to the word “Fetch” by bring me her fetch toy (a mini stuffed cat plush toy that my cat also likes to “kick” with her back legs while she holds it down with her front paws). The toy is called “The Fetch” and when I say “get The Fetch, she will look around the house until she finds it and brings it to me. Then I throw it and she takes off to fetch it.

Our cat taught us the fetch thing the day we brought him home. Now he willl find one of his toys (usually a squidgy rugby ball) and nudge us until someone throws it. His favourite is chasing it down the stairs. He also takes it outside and plays on his own like he’s caught it. Love the video.

Mine plays too! She just picked it up today and nailed the concept in 5 minutes. In fact, I wasn’t even planning on teaching her how to, it just happened! And then continued and continued. . .I sense a kitty addiction. I included the video’s above!

My kitten fetches too BUT he wasn’t trained to do it. My husband has a little miniature dust pan and dust brush (the brush is about 6in. across) and my kitten grabs it with teeth and paws and throws it up and aroudn the house. Then one day he brought it up to me on the couch so I started throwing it off the couch – just to get it off the couch mind you – now it is a regular game. He is 10 months old now and is the only cat i have ever had that fetches.

Ha! I’m on my second cat who plays fetch. A fun little guy, but too clever and curious for his own good, sometimes. And yes, the playing fetch thing seems to go hand-in-hand with a love for putting toys in the toilet and/or water bowl, as well as chewing through every cord in the house!!!
