I didn’t know that there was ever segregation that far North. This was a real eye opener.

It’s interesting, your explaination break in the middle of the video. I think your initial reaction to the seats was honest – laughing in expressing how utterly ridiculous it was that people were expected to sit on these walls of wood.

I was going to say the same thing as Mary. This was REALLY well done (both in the series). All the videos about your community are top quality. Seriously… this beats watching the travel channel any day! It’s cool that you captured all that because I’m guessing they will be tearing that part down at some point. It is a great reminder of how far we have come.

    Well done, my friend!

A couple notes for viewers, downtown Grand Rapids went through a revitalization back in the 70s, and many beautiful buildings were torn down. Currently, the philosophy is to keep as much of a structure as possible. Many older manufacturing and warehouse facilities are being gutted and turned into condos and offices. Buildings like the Civic and our Public Library that are still being used for the original purpose, are being renovated and added on to.

Hopefully, Josh will do a piece on our Heritage Hill district (hint hint!).
