That is one of the funniest things I have ever seen you do. I am still laughing.

dude, you were only about 6 -8 inches from dunking the ball, even though you clearly didn’t know what you were doing. I’m mainly an art guy, but I do like sports. You should get a coach and work with him/her on dunking. I think with some pro help you could dunk. What a cool post, I think the first time you do it you’ll be thrilled. By the way, I’m short, I’ll never dunk. GO DUNK!!!

    regards
    Rob

    Well, at least you tried!

Loved the whole “talking while you change your shoes and clothes” part. It was very Mr. Rogers-esque! Looking forward to the next Josh On Sports!

I played on the JV basketball team in seventh grade. I played in two games for about ten minutes. Total. I quit after that. Never quite got that one. I ended up playing tennis in high school, but that was mainly because a lot of my friends did, and it is sort of a family thing. Oh, I like it too. Keep up the in-depth look into sports fanaticism. Cheers.

Also, who helped you film this?

Wow, that was great (the video, not the playing).

You’ve done a great service by dispelling the stereotype that tall skinny guys must be good at basketball.

Oh Josh ..Dear Josh ..Wonderful Josh….Brilliant Josh…..Witty Josh
Am more affected by yr lack of sports Dress Sense than yr veiled attempts
at sport prowess…my reckoning is you have to be v good to be that bad at Netball or basketball or whatever…..BUT if WINNIE LOVES YOU thats good enough for me
    Craggles (OZ)..another NON sports tragic

I want to help you with your understanding of why people, “really get into sports.”
It might be a problem with the lens you’re viewing it with.
Try imagining a basketball game as physcial jazz.
People get into it for all the same reasons people get into videoblogging.
I could list these if you like, but it might be better if you come up with your own reasons.

    you always make me smile.
you either have the sports gene or not!
    i have it…
if you have it, then even bouncing the ball is great.
    go figure!

    Good music choice!

I was wondering- and stupidly, nervous- the whole time about the camera, hoping it wasn’t going to get pegged with the ball by accident. So, like Steve, I really enjoyed the very last shot…:)

At least they made you “manager” in 7th grade. They never wanted to see me again after my tryouts. Stupid SCCS Spartans.

Didn’t you play tennis at Chi-Hi? Or am I just crazy? I could have sworn that you were in the van when Kyle Yonker hit me in the eye with a baby carrot and made me blind for a few days (but then again, my vision was kind of blurry . . .)

I’m still waiting for the moment when you reveal the obscure and amazing sport you mastered when nobody was looking. Jai alai? Jujitsu? Wife-carrying?

Thanks Josh, this put a smile on my face. But your videos often do. But really thanks.
Your angles and edits are often good, I think I liked the voice over in this the best.
As for sports it may help if you found one you like to play or were good at playing. Maybe it is best just to imagine how excited you get over media. Well that is just how some people feel about sports. I’m not one of those sports people but maybe that is one way to look at it.
    Take care man.

At least you tried…I never even tried.

I firmly believe that the best way to enjoy sports is to go to a live event with a major team and drink a lot of beer and eat hot dogs.

hi there. i discovered your vlog recently and love it. i have a (perhaps uninformed) question: how do you embed your blip.tv clips into your wordpress posts? i also have a blip account and a wordpress blog, but when i auto cross-post videos from blip, i don’t get the same embedded QT movie file, just a still image linking to the QT file. advice?

    gracias,
    audubon

that was very funny. you have touched on my secret shame. my father was captain of all the teams, and his name and picture were on pretty much every wall at my school. there was nothing he couldn’t play. whereas i… uh… i can’t even play dead.
