Wow Josh. Really fantastic work. You must have put a lot of time into this one. That's so cool that they had gumption to protest the lame TV coverage of their neighborhood.

You did an excellent job putting this together. It seems like you treated both sides fairly and did research before just telling the story of the people who were protesting. That shows wisdom that is pretty cool. It is great and exciting to see people expressing there concerns and bringing about positive change. Thanks for using this medium to share an important issue and to example for us how easy it can be to find out about important issues effecting our communities. Thanks for sharing as you do.

Josh, Thanks so much for putting this piece together, and in a way, giving people a real voice. I'm impressed by your vlogging endeavor and enjoy seeing it periodically. Noah

Josh, I discovered your vlogging through the wired article, as no doubt many did. I really enjoy what you've done. Keep up the good work!

"News?" How about "info-tainment." Just listen to that cool, intense, adrenaline-pumping voice-over of the video montage in that news story. Way too exciting for evening news. Between the GR Press and News 8, you'd think that GR was the murder capital of Michigan. And why in the blessed name of Dutch immigration would the news companies want to make Grand Rapids seem tough and ghetto? Perhaps to justify the further suburbanization and individualization of everything . . . "It's just not safe. You'll have to start working at home and shop online."

Anyway, before I make a fool of myself for ranting, posts like this reveal the major problems of our media system (I think everyone else before me already pointed this out). People are too inclined to let others speak for their cities and communities, too inclined to point fingers at the problem than to offer solutions, too happy to fall for the temptation of status quo in their own lives.

What about Grand Rapids as a whole? What has it done? What about you, news-viewer? What have you done?

You've helped to highlight the issue. Now where do we go to keep it from happening again?

This summarizes everything that is so cool about videoblogging and new media in general. if you hadn't been there not many people would have heard from that protest. But you were there with your camera, and now the whole world (and i mean that literally; i for example am half a world away) will hear about it. Great job, and keep on blogging :)

What a great piece...what power you have with your camera and vlog! Thanks for giving these residents a voice! I don't live in GR but am still so thankful that you were there to cover their story.

WELCOME TO AMERICA - this is type of news programming is nation-wide and has been and everyone knows it. It feels great to know that everyday citizens are doing something about it. -I'm such a slut for sociopolitical vlogs.
