Bad and Good Guys

Posted on Thursday 2 February 2006

I have been working on this remix for a couple of weeks. The little Girl is Sean Gilligan’s daughter. She provides the “Moral Calrity.” I guess this video is an experimentation of sound and video, a mixture of music video and remix.

What makes a bad and good person? what defines popularity? Do the two intersect somewhere? Can a person be labeled bad or good based solely on their habits, appearance, actions, or morals? Enjoy this video as a fun song but maybe if you get a chance, think about the topic too.

Now that was good. Definitely not bad at all ;)

    Fun too!

Your re-mix got me thinking that we could start a game at WATM where we regularly show a few short CC licensed clips and ask viewers to (1) find the url for the media containing the clip and then (2) make a re-mix from those videos.

Sort of a videoblogging scavanger hunt. Wadda ya tink?

Wow- where did you get that old-school video footage? It reminds me of some of the stuff on Mystery Science Theater…

    Bravo.

And, the flag-waving was a nice touch.

    Josh,
I used this video in a class this morning, and it went great. The kids left singing, “Bad guys are bad; good guys are good.” Thanks.

Great work, Josh! I just saw this today and showed it to my daughter. She’s not sure she’s ready for super-stardom ;)

I should tell the story of how this clip came about: my 4 yr. old daughter found the U.S. flag and was waving it patriotically, saying “Yeah, Daddy!” as she has no real concept of nationality. Earlier that day we were talking about a movie and I was trying to explain to her that one of the characters was kind of a “grey” character, a bad guy that turned out to be good in the end. She didn’t understand and replied “Bad Guys are Bad! Good Guys are Good!” So, when she was waving the flag I prompted her and said “What was it you were telling me about bad guys and good guys?” and turned on the camera.

She’s 5 now and explained to me the other day about the “Iron Giant” — “first he’s bad, then he’s good, then he’s bad, then he’s good again.” Life gets complicated as you get older…

[…] I can’t tell you exactly why I like Josh Leo. I guess the best way to sum it up is to say he just seems like a really nice guy, who makes interesting short videos about himself and the things around him. He also occasionally makes these wacky short films, like this one entitled Bad and Good Guys. Nicely done Josh. […]
