German Hiking Part 1

Posted on Monday 21 November 2005

Part one in a two-part series. Here, I go backpacking through the beautiful scenery of the Black Forest in Germany. We traveled in an area around Freiburg, the highest point being Feldberg. The Black Forest reminded me of the Appalachians…Rolling smoky hills, very beautiful

Hmm …campfire perfume. I think you’re onto something, Josh. Of course, I’m not sure if I’d want any. Maybe the bread perfume is something I’d wear.

Nice video BTW. Loved the background music.

imo, your best work in quite a while, at least as far as this vlog is concerned. The music really fit the mood with the campfire shots and everything. I really enjoyed this one. As always, thanks for sharing, and keep up the excellent work.

Very beautiful. I agree, the music really created the mood for this one. I’m not much of a camping sort of person… but this video made it look so cozy, warm and nice.

Wow, That was your best vlog yet Josh! I like the international vlog, this is something that will hopefully in the long run build crossable bridges!

I’m with you. Campfire is where it’s at. Man, that country was just beautiful. I can’t wait until I have enough money to take my girlfriend to Europe. You are so lucky.

Home made bread perfume… could be dangerous! The first time I caught someone eating my girlfriend, I think they’d be gun fire!

    Wait… wait… you misunderstood me…

Nice visuals. The perfume bit made me laugh.
Josh, what compression do you use? The images look pretty darn good! I think they even look better than the compressions I use.

great video.. the opening shot left a funny thought in my head though.. the way you filmed it as if you were unaware of the camera. this is a classic documentary approach, to give us the impressioon that we are seeing ‘what was actually happening’, but in this instance we know that you are making these films, so the illusion is flawed. It’s got me thinking again about truth in video, especially documentary style work. i think many people read videoblogs as being more ‘honest’ than traditional media, especially the talking head moments, yet already the more talented producers (i.e. you!) are using constructed realities .. e.g. would you have sighed the same way if you weren’t filming yourself? just some thoughts that are circling in my head..

Dude, you need to start putting music credits at the end. What was the music on this and the other German one?
