Mr. Leo vs. TBN

So here is an Update about my Battle/hatred with TBN (The Christian television station that broadcasts across the globe)
I now realize that I am not the only one who thinks that these people are doing a disservice to our LORD. There are plenty of people who have been following the wrong things that these people have been doing in the name of Jesus…here are just a few:

* This is an article focusing on the work of It sounds like they are against TBN as much as me! it also mentions some of the outrageous financial practices of the network

* Here is’s information about TBN

* Here is a website telling about the outright heresy and other evil practices of the network (be sure to read some of the stuff in red…it will piss you off that this is how Christianity is represented to the rest of the world)

Zest and TBN

Minty My Ass!
Zest Soap with a hint of Mint is not minty at all…Not that I tasted it, But it doesn’t tingle, it doesn’t feel minty, and it is just a new smell of soap. Don’t be fooled by these elaborate claims…this is not a minty soap, I am dissapointed

So more and more every day I feel compelled to personally bring down TBN I hate the fact that they are Exploiting the name of Jesus for their own financial gain. I just printed off some articles about the corruption of the network and I realize now that I am not the only one who hates what these people are doing!

Politics, Work, and Foreigners

Let’s Not Talk Politics
This is a week when tempers flare and people disagree to an extreme degree. This is Election Week and people are firm in their opinions. I hate even bringing up politics for the sheer fact that it is such a touchy issue. It is either Bush or Kerry…either answer you give can piss off the wrong people. When the topic of who people are going to vote for comes up in conversation…I feel very uncomfortable. I have made a decision, and that is my own personal opinion, I am not trying to press my beliefs upon anyone else. I hate it when people bash George Bush. They call him incompetent, they call him war-hungry, they come up with anything they can to make him look bad and that makes me uncomfortable. I hate it when people bash John Kerry. They call him indecisive, they call him a liar, they say that he is illogical and that makes me mad. When it all comes down to it…It is a monkey with a plate of cookies versus a horse with a bouffant hair doo. I know where I stand on issues, I wont let my hatred for abortion solely determine my vote, I wont let my hatred for the death penalty determine it either. I just want everyone to realize that God knows what he is doing and that I believe that he can do wonderful things through either candidate. God is not a Republican, he is not a Democrat. I know what I want to see happen…but I am ok if you want something else to happen…I just don’t want to debate anything anymore.

Reminisce About Cosby
Does anybody remember The Cosby Show episode where the whole Huxtable family lip syncs to Ray Charles’ “Night Time is the Right Time” and Rudy really gets into singing “BABY!!!…..BABY!!!”    I loved that part….I love The Cosby Show…

“Sleep Inn, This is Josh Speaking, How May I Help You?”
Tomorrow I start my first day of training as a front desk clerk at the Sleep Inn. Like I have stated before, I have to dress up…and I am still not sure how I feel about that. That means that I have to buy some more shirts and ties. It means that I have to keep my clothes wrinkle-free and probably buy an ironing board. I do however get the internal feeling that I am doing something a little bit more important. Getting covered in ranch dressing and mopping floors wasn’t glamorous. I guess it is the power that I have at this new job. I have people coming to me asking me questions and needing me to put them in a room. The front desk is the place where everyone knows to go if there is a problem. I guess that means that I have more responsibility, but I am willing to take it on…I am sick of doing jobs that monkeys could do. Try to get a monkey to answer a phone and look good in a tie!

Germany VS. the USA
I have a German friend…he lives in Germany…not just a guy who is German like I am Dutch. We have been e-mailing for a few months now and we did an interesting experiment…I asked him to ask 5 people who he interacts with on a regular basis what they think of when he says the word “American” I did the same with 5 people here when I said the word “German”. Here is a sampling of our results:
Germans: Bush, war, dreamland, cowboys, long trips by car, no idea about what’s going on in rest of the world, Michael Moore, superficial, hypocritical, Baseball, arrogant, cool slang, megalomania, fat, oil, patriotism, David Hasselhoff (he he), corruption, world power, kindness.
Americans: Chocolate, Hitler, Nazis, wienerschnitzel, War, Cars, The Berlin Wall, lederhosen, Bratwurst.

I was surprised by the responses on both sides. I realize that America is a bigger “cultural exporter” than Germany, but I still found it that Americans see Germans as Nazis wearing Lederhosen, eating bratwurst, drinking beer and driving cool cars. While Germans seem to have a larger perspective on America. They watch American movies, they listen to some American bands, they are bombarded with American products and know what is going on here…They seem to be right on with a lot of their opinions…Americans need some work though…I wish we all knew as much about the rest of the world’s countries as they do about us!

TV, Things, and Autumn

“Sit Ubu, Sit…Good Dog”
When I was just a little kid I used think that this dog was the size of a minivan, I guess that my concept of size was really out of whack back then…but cmon…that frisbee looks like it could be a garbage can lid.

The Television Renaissance
I remember being a faithful watcher of Shows like Silver Spoons, Small Wonder, Mr Belvedere (or Broktune for you serious fans) and even the Golden Girls…man that Blanch was one sassy chica! We need more shows that revolve around robotic daughters, ornery old women and male maids like Tony Danza or Mr. Belvedere. Where has all the good programming gone? I guess just miss Alfonso Ribiero dancing like Michael Jackson…

I am aware that my updating frequency has dropped to an all time low..but do not be afraid my faithful Readers…I have changed colors, and changed my outlook on my Blogging life. From now on there will be more hilarity, more insight, and more meaningless drivel…just the way you like it!

In Praise of Autumn
As Fall quickly approaches, I am, with each passing day, becoming more and more excited about the eradication of chlorophyl in exchange for the beautiful autumn colors. Orange, red, yellow, maroon…these are the fun colors, as the temperature becomes colder, the colors warm up. I love Fall…the smell of cinnamon, apple cider, pumpkin pie (I don’t like pumpkin pie…but the smell makes me feel good) There is no better season…Some view autumn as the slow death of all living things around us. I see it as a great time to fall in love, go on a hay ride, chuck cobs of dry corn at one another, and enjoy the variety that is weaved into every living thing in this world. (Seriously guys, there is no better way to win a girl than to nail her in the back of the head with a painted gourd….and there is no better time for that than Autumn.) So Let’s all rejoice in our harvest season and join together to celebrate the beauty of change!

Olympics and Retired Cd’s

Dance Elements
I have been watching the Olympics on and off this past week and have decided that the women’s gymnastic floor routine is so retarded…They are forced to add “Dance Elements” into their flipping spinning stuff. The guys only have to do the cool flipping stuff. but since they are girls they have to wave their hands and leap like ballet dancers. This requirement makes this event the most boring and least cool in an otherwise awesome grouping of skills. Eliminate the dance crap and add more life-threatening flips.

Retired CD’s
The radio in my car has been broken for a few months now…I can only play cd’s I used to listen to WYCE and get a good variety of music while learning about new bands…but these pat few months have been hard. I buy a new cd a week and listen to it over and over again. I worry about killing my music, and by killing I mean playing a cd so much that I know every word, note and can’t even listen to one song without humming the next one on the track listing when that song ends. I worry that I won’t want to hear these cd’s again because I listen to them too much. I am curious if this has happened to anyone else. I have retired cd’s from my rotation even though I love them a lot. I love them so much I hate them.

So here is a Question for everyone:
If you were an summer Olympian, what event would you compete in.

I choose…badminton    I liked playing it in PE in high school…and think I have some potential

after giving a rousing speach about the theme of adultry and marriage in the simpsons for my CAS class i prepared to go to the recording studio (dynamite)

a long time ago a group of people who started jamming out by the smoke pit my freshman year got together and thought it would be fun to try out for supercave (Calvin’s battle of the bands) so we got some songs together, and some other good musicians (there were six of us total) and we tried out, we made it and got a spot to compete. We were the last ones to go on stage and when we were done, despite technical difficulties, the crowd loved us! we won audience’s choice and judge’s choice. the prizes were a bag of skittles and a subscription to performing songwriter magazine, and the big prize was recording time in a studio. well since i was in alaska all summer and couldn’t be there to record with the rest of the gang we waited until yesterday. they have been practicing all summer and added two other guys, eliminated me and lydia (the violin player) and got more away from the folk feel. Lydia and I still got to record one of our original songs each with the band, so that is what we did yesterday! I wrote a really catchy song last year and now in addition to the usual dulcimer anc my vocals, it has a piano, drums, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, banjo, violin, and 2 more harmony vocals….it sounds quite awesome! I will get a copy of my song sometime soon so if you would like to hear it i will make it available!

Saved by the bell DVD
This DVD came out earlier this month, I am very happy, these are not the miss bliss episodes, no these are classic Zack, Slater, Screech, Kelly, Lisa and Jessie moments folks, and guess who gets to write 3 papers on this show for his CAS class. ME!!! Oh it will be so much fun analyzing the gender roles, social structures, target audience, and all the other wonderful tv/communications/cultural things

I am trying to get some pictures of my house on my site soon..the coffee bar, the living room, my room and the like.
